Henry Gray (1829– 61) was a nineteenth-century English surgeon and anatomist, best known for publishing the medical reference book, Gray' s Anatomy.
Henry Vandyke Carter (1831– 97) was an English surgeon, anatomist, and artist who is best known for creating the illustrations for the reference book Gray' s Anatomy.
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. R. Shane Tubbs is now a distinguished author, editor, and Professor of Neurosurgery, Neurology, Surgery, and Structural & Cellular Biology at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. His research in “ reverse translational anatomy” has resulted in more than 2, 000 peer-reviewed publications, and he has authored/edited more than 50 books, including the 41st and 42nd editions of Gray’ s Anatomy, published by Elsevier. Most recently, he was named chair of the Federative International Programme on Anatomical Terminologies and President of the American Association of Clinical Anatomists.
