Johann-Wolfgang von Goethe is considered the founder of modern German literature, the leader of the romantic movement "Storm and Onslaught". In the field of botany he is considered the founder of comparative morphology of plants. His works contain epic and lyrical poems written in different styles: prose and poetic dramas, memoirs, autobiography, literary and aesthetic criticism, treatises on botany, anatomy, four novels. In addition, there are numerous literary and scientific fragments, more than 10,000 letters and about 3,000 drawings. The large Weimar edition of Goethe's works has 143 volumes. In particular, he wrote more than 3,000 poems.
