«The Overcoat» - is one of the famous St Petersburg short stories by the most mysterious author of the Russian literature Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol. This intricate story is about a poor Akaky Akakievich Bashmachkin, who placed an order for a new overcoat for himself and was looking forward for it to be sewed. The author, skillfully using the words, shows all the indifference and cruelty of St Petersburg towards the poor official.
