Seminar paper from the year 2022 in the subject Geography / Earth Science - Demographics, Urban Management, Planning, grade: 1, 0, University of Bayreuth, language: English, abstract: This work explores the complex concepts of migration from a socio-geographical and population geography perspective. It examines the causes and consequences of migration, particularly focusing on refugee movements during the European refugee crisis of 2015/2016. Key terms such as migration, spatial mobility, and transnationalism are defined and analyzed. Theoretical approaches, including neoclassical economic models and push-pull theories, are discussed to better understand the motivations behind migration. The study also highlights the distinction between refugees and migrants, addressing the societal and political implications of these terms.
