The Count of Monte Cristo is the story of Edmond Dantès, a man who is wrongfully accused of treason on his wedding day and sent to Le Château d'If, an island prison. There he meets another prisoner and finds out why he was framed, by whom, and learns of a treasure left on the Island of Monte-Cristo. Dantès escapes from jail, acquires a fortune and sets about getting revenge on those responsible for his imprisonment.
