Teasing protagonists in a brutal fantasy world ~ 10 / 10
I've been waiting to read this book, this story since I found Lauren's account on TikTok. So I already knew snippets of the book from videos and what tropes await me. And when I finally did I only enjoyed it. I really like how this story unfolds. The power of every character, their uniqueness. I loved witnessing the action and the heartwarming words. I could let myself easily fall into the story and what the characters felt. It's a book that lets me feel every emotion, even anger which is common with me. And it's also one I'd read all over again. And I'll read every book that will follow in this universe - with these characters that I got to know here.
Apart from my reading experience: I really like the connection of the cover and of the dedication to the story. This story shows you strength but also pain you have to go through. I haven't seen a trigger warning. So please take care of yourself because the book has quite some bloody and heartaching scenes.
I recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading a story filled with fighting and challenges, teasing that makes you grin a lot, power paired with none, and a kingdom with different ways to live.
