Vier junge Frauen und die Liebe
Chicago, 1910. Wir begleiten vier junge Frauen, jede mit ihren eigenen Gedanken, Geschichten, Träumen, Wünschen. Wir treffen Olivia, die aus der wohlhabenden Familie Davenport kommt und sich für den Freiheitskampf von PoC einsetzt, ihre jüngere Schwester Helen, die sich für Automobile interessiert, deren Dienstmädchen Amy-Rose, die ihr eigenes Geschäft öffnen will und ihre Freundin Amy-Rose, die ihre Familie vor den Ruin bewahren will. Die Story wird aus diesen vier Perspektiven erzählt und jede Geschichte ist auf ihre eigene Art einzigartig.
Direkt am Anfang gibt es ein Personenverzeichnis, sodass man weiß, wer mit wem in Verbindung steht und mit wem verwandt ist, was echt geholfen hat, denn bei so vielen Charakteren kann man schon manchmal den Überblick verlieren. Wir begleiten die vier jungen schwarzen Frauen auf ihrem Weg zur Selbstfindung und der Suche nach der Liebe, die jede auf ihre eigene Art und Weise findet.
Das Setting ist dabei auch ein besonderes, denn die Geschichte spielt am Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts in Chicago zwischen glamourösen Bällen und wimmelnden Straßen mit Kutschen und den ersten Automobilen.
Es geht um viel um Selbstfindung, Liebe, Missverständnisse, aber auch Themen, wie Rassismus und Sklaverei werden behandelt.
Nach dem unerwartetem und überraschendem offenen Ende freue ich mich sehr auf die Fortsetzung des Buches.

Schöne romantische Geschichte für Bridgerton-Fans
Das Cover des Buches hat mich sofort angesprochen, da es ähnlich wirkt wie Bridgerton.
Die Geschichte basiert auf der Firma C.R. Patterson and Sons, die von 1893-1939 in Ohio tätig war.
Die Autorin hat einen fiktiven Fokus auf die Töchter gelegt und einen Schwerpunkt gesetzt, wie es war, als dunkelhäutige, adlige Frau im 20.
Jahrhundert zu Leben.
Die Kapitel sind in die Perspektiven, der jeweiligen jungen Frauen aufgeteilt, denen wir auf Ihrem Weg zu Leidenschaft, Liebe und eigenständigem Leben folgen.
