Gennet Bekele is from Ethiopia, which is located in the Horn of Africa. A land of the oldest Christian origins, never colonized by Europeans. It is a place with thirteen months of sunshine.
Ms. Bekele is an author, Artist, Educator and known around buck head, Atlanta area for her Art exhibiting several media and as the Author of children's book.
As mentioned in the book, the story is the reflection of the author's childhood in Ethiopia. The responsibility of Ms. Bekele is to show how useful it is to teach children through objects in their surroundings, such as moon.
The children in this book, Almaze and Tsehay believed that the moon followed both of them, but the grandmother brought disillusionment and exposed them to reality so they could face the truth. The truth is that the moon seems to follow everyone, but actually follows no one. It is because reality is determined by personal perception.
Being of Ethiopian ethnicity, she can appreciate understanding the diversities likeness among cultures. Even though cultural differences exists Ms. Bekele found that sometimes, we all see most of life and life lessons through the same eyes and even share the same perceptions.
Ms. Bekele doesn't seem to be compared to other Artists and Authors. She believes she is Gennet Bekele and her works are original, unique and inspired by God. 'Art and writing are incomparable and comes only from itself.'
Ms. Bekele wrote two poetry books titled, On the Ladder of Thought and Food for our Soul in Amharic. She promised her next book will be ready within six months. It is going to be spiritual.
