Mindfulness through Yoga is a workbook which integrates mindfulness techniques with yoga techniques and will appeal to those experiencing high levels of anxiety or depression as well as clinicians and mindfulness practitioners/teachers.
Mindfulness has moved beyond traditional so-called spiritual circles and into the mainstream in recent years. It's increasingly used in therapy and has been found to be particularly beneficial for those experiencing difficulties falling asleep, emotional problems such as anxiety and depression, as well as those interested in promoting wellbeing (for example, yoga practitioners). It has recently been endorsed by the NHS as one of the treatments of choice for the prevention of relapse of depression.
However, for those experiencing high levels of anxiety or depression, practicing mindfulness can be difficult because of the physiological changes that occur when we are either highly anxious (when we're 'psyched up') or depressed (when we lack energy). Mindfulness through Yoga aims to address these problems by incorporating elements of yoga which are designed to physically enable the anxious or depressed person to practice mindfulness.
