Author is Steef Hoogendam, a retired social worker.
He acquired his expertise in three ways:
- He was trained as a social worker.
- He worked mainly for Child Protection
- He personally experienced the effects of a divorce.
He studied at 'De Horst', school for Higher Social Studies
in Driebergen, NL and later attended a
second phase of professional education in Nijmegen.
He worked mainly in Child Protection or Child Welfare
He became father and experienced what mistakes were made in divorce procedures. He continued to write.
When writing Defeat , Steef permanently aimed at three goals:
1. First, he wants to test all kinds of 'expertise' or competencies
2. Then, he wants to be a warm support to fathers who are embroiled in a messy divorce battle
3. Finally, he wants to properly inform child(ren), so that they will remember him as he was and not as the person he became.
